The DS-160 is the foundation of your US visa application. Small errors can cause delays or awkward questions at the interview. Here are the mistakes we see most often among UAE residents.
1. Name and passport details that don't match
Enter your name exactly as printed in your passport, including surname order. Use your current passport number and issue dates.
2. Incomplete travel and visa history
List previous US visits and any prior refusals truthfully. Hiding past refusals is far more damaging than the refusal itself.
3. Vague employment information
Give your employer name, address, start date, monthly salary and a short, clear job description — the same as your salary certificate.
4. Wrong location selected
Choose the post where you will interview (Dubai or Abu Dhabi) on the first page. Picking the wrong location can mean filling a new form.
5. Photo rejected
Use a recent photo with a plain white background and no glasses. If the upload fails the checker, take a new one rather than editing it.
